Running for fitness groups

Would you and a group of friends or colleagues like to get fitter? Would you like to take up running but don't know where to start? Have you thought about joining a running club but your work pattern or childcare arrangements mean you can't actually get to any training sessions?  Have you been persuaded to enter a running event for charity and are not quite sure why you agreed? Then Mud and miles can help!

We can provide, at a time, date and place of your choice (near workplace or home), running for fitness sessions for small groups. Each session is no more than an hour long, and can be less if you like, and will help you to start running from whatever level of fitness you currently have. A series of sessions will help you to improve, you'll have fun on the way, and before you know it, you'll be running that 5K or even more!

Sessions cost £30 per hour for up to 10 people, and £50 per hour for up to 20 people.  Please contact us for more information or to book.

What will the runs be like?
As a private group booking, you can negotiate where the sessions take place. They could be in a local park or on a nearby trail or footpath; it's up to you. Mud and miles will then plan the sessions accordingly. There will always be a warm-up and a cool-down; in addition there will be a variety of running activities designed to help you run further and faster. Whatever the session includes, it will be fun!

My friends / colleagues and I are not quick runners - will we be able to manage?
Yes! When you make a booking, Mud and miles will ask about your current fitness levels and the range of ability within the group. Sessions will be planned and organised  in a way that enables everyone to take a full part, regardless of their fitness or experience.

What should we wear and bring?
Wear clothes and shoes that will be comfortable to run in. Synthetic fabrics tend to be better than cotton; once you work up a sweat, cotton can become quite uncomfortable. If it's warm and sunny, bring a drink along; if it's cooler, you might want to bring  something warmer to wear whilst we warm up and cool down. If it is raining, we'll still go, so bring a waterproof top of some kind.

Do I need to book in advance?

Yes please! Fitness sessions for private groups need to be booked in advance, as they will be tailored to you, your location and your needs. It's best to book a series of sessions in advance; 10 weeks of fitness sessions would be a good start to improving your fitness and running, or to prepare for a specific event.
